A place of extremes

When people think of Las Vegas, they think scorching hot weather! This is true, for the summer. The problem when planting is those same plants that flourish in the heat may not fare well come winter. Vegas experiences extreme cold in the winter and it is not uncommon to reach freezing temperatures. I keep burlap on hand to be prepared for freezes This has saved many plants.
Another thing to consider is our extreme winds. If you purchase any plants that are fragile consider planting them in a location that has some wind break to it.
